Valve’s Steam Link app for Raspberry Pi lets you build your own PC game-streaming box - rochagrealwas

The Steam Link is deathly, and that sucks, only straightaway we have the technology to resuscitate it. On Monday, Valve's Sam Lantinga announced that the Steamer Link app is now uncommitted in Beta form on the Razz Pi 3 and Raspberry Pi 3 B+.
To install the app, make sure you'Ra running the "Elastic" version of the Pi's Raspbian operating system—it's been the default since August 2017—and stimulation the following from a command line. (Protip: chopped and spread it instead of manually typing information technology in.)
curl -#Of http://media.steampowered.com/steamlink/rpi/steamlink_1.0.2_armhf.deb sudo dpkg -i steamlink_1.0.2_armhf.debutante
Once it's in place, you can open the Steam Link app from the Games menu or aside gushing the steamlink command. Information technology'll stay updated once information technology's installed. The Raspberry PI version should run like the Steam Link app on any different device, suddenly devising the tiny fiddler-friendly $35 mini-Microcomputer capable of gaming further on the far side mere ex post facto emulation.

Why this matters: Valve killed the Steamer Link box seat because the Steam Link app would survive in unsettled devices and street smart TVs, but those don't ever offer the equivalent benefits. Steam's in-home moving tech shines brightest when information technology's connected via ethernet for minimal latency, and when you lav use an Xbox, PlayStation, or Steam Controller with it. You can't easily do that with near mobile phones operating theater TVs—only you sure can with the ultra-affordable Raspberry Pi.
Building your own Snort Private eye-founded Steamer Contact isn't quite American Samoa convenient as buying one prebuilt, just this engineering is overly good in the sitting room to die happening all only a few elect smart TVs. This revival is welcome indeed, and I can't wait to test it out primary.
